WELCOME TO MOREHEAD GYMNASIUM!
On Friday, February 12, 2010,
Fennville Public Schools dedicated the 34
year old gym to honor the first family of
Blackhawk sports. The gym will now be
know as “Morehead Gymnasium”.
As expected, the evening turned into
a FHS reunion with graduates returning to
show their love for Ada and Sam Morehead.
Both Sam and Ada were in awe of the
outpouring of friends to show up for the
event.
A reception was held in the High
School Library prior to the boys game
vs. Martin. During half time of the girls
game, the signage was unveiled over the west scoreboard, Welcome to Morehead
Gymnasium. Game official and FHS alumni, Lowell Winne served as master of
ceremony.
Hustle and Harmony is what Coach Morehead
use to teach his student-athletes. On the court
for the night, both teams didn't disappoint. In the
first game, the Hawk's boys defeated the Martin
Clippers, 73-65. FHS sophomore Wes Leonard
led the Hawks with 26 points. Juniors Reid Sexton
and Adam Siegel each finished with 14 points.
The win keeps the Blackhawks boys in first place
in the SAC North with a 6-1 record, and 10-3 overall.
The girls moved their record to 2-6 in the SAC
North and 3-12 overall, with a 40-37 win over Martin.

In a very special moment, the varsity boys are honored to have
Coach Morehead provide a post game speech. Coach Morehead is
famous for gifting former and current students with his "Hawk
Grams" with a dollar coin attached. Each player received a special
gift from Coach as well as memories that will last forever.
